Coating Care
Why Coating Care Matters
Your ceramic coating gives your car deep gloss, UV resistance and easy cleaning.
With the right aftercare, it will keep protecting your paint for years.
This page shows you exactly how to wash and maintain your coated car the right way.

After Pickup – UV-Cured, Ready to Drive
Since Detail Koning uses professional UV curing lamps, your coating is fully cured before the vehicle leaves our studio.
This means:
-
No 14-day waiting period
-
No restriction on washing due to curing
-
The coating has already reached its full hardness and chemical resistance
However, the first week still matters, but only for surface protection, not curing.
For the first week:
-
Avoid bird droppings, insects, and tree sap
-
Avoid sprinklers or hard water drying on the paint
-
Rinse with clean water if necessary — no shampoo
-
Do not use abrasive towels or products
(The coating is cured, but contaminants left on paint for too long can still etch.)
After 48 hours
Normal Care Begins

Two-Bucket Method
Bullets:
-
Bucket 1: pH-neutral car shampoo + water
-
Bucket 2: clean rinse water
-
Use a soft microfiber wash mitt
-
Always rinse the mitt in the rinse bucket before you reload shampoo

Use a Grit Guard (Highly Recommended)

Place a grit guard at the bottom of your buckets.
It traps sand and dirt under the guard so it doesn’t come back into the wash mitt.
This greatly reduces the risk of swirls and micro-scratches – especially on dark paint.

Shampoo
• pH-neutral only
• Coating-safe formulas
Tools
• Microfiber wash mitts
• Microfiber drying towels
• Soft wheel brushes
Maintenance
-
Top Coat every 6-12 months
Never Use This on a Coated Car
-
Automatic car washes
-
Household cleaners or dish soap
-
Heavy degreasers / APC on the paint
-
Abrasive polishes or pads
-
Dirty sponges or towels
What Ceramic Coatings Don’t Protect Against
A coating makes your paint easier to clean and more resistant to chemicals and UV.
It does not make the car scratch-proof or chip-proof.
It does not stop stone chips, parking damage or impact marks.
For the highest level of physical protection, we recommend Paint Protection Film (PPF) on exposed areas.
